The Park: Fort De Soto Park is consistently rated as one of America's top 10 beaches. There's good reason for it, too. The Park encompasses 900 acres, consists of 5 pristine islands, and offers superb amenities. Whether your interests include swimming, just sunning, roller blading, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, or camping, this park offers it all.
Camping facilities include 235 campsites, including picnic tables, grills, water/electric hookups, laundry facilities, pump-out stations, modern restroom/shower buildings, play areas, and a camp store.
The two Swim centers are well renowned, and food concessions are available at the North Beach. The twenty Restroom facilities have been featured in several national publications, and are storm-resistant. A Snack bar / Souvenir shop is available at the North Beach facility. The Recreation Trail spans 4.2 miles and connects the campgrounds, North Beach facilities, the Fort, and the East Beach facilities. A Canoe Trail was completed several years ago. It is well marked, and spans 2.25 miles. The park covers over 7 miles of waterfront, and boasts some of the finest white sand beaches available on Florida's west coast. Again, as mentioned above, the Park has gained a great deal of notoriety for it's waterfront and beaches. A mile -long Nature trail can be found at the Arrowhead Picnic area, and provides a beautiful display of native flora and fauna. Speaking of Picnic areas, the park features 14 large group shelters, all with spectacular views of waterfront. Pets are allowed within the park, while some areas of the park require pets to be leashed, others do not.
