Rated by MSN.com as one on the 100 Best Places / Cities to live in 2004, the town of Lutz is located in Hillsborough County adjacent to the areas of Cheval, Land o Lakes, and University and is 15 miles north of Tampa.
Lutz originated as a train depot which served as a junction between Tampa and Brooksville. The original depot was demolished in the 1960s and a replica stands in its place, along with an art gallery, and a near by public library. The film Edward Scissorhands was almost entirely filmed in the town of Lutz and is so noted in the movies credits.
The community of Lutz is home to many residents who commute to Tampa for work. There is a nice selection of condominiums from under 150k to up to one million dollars for the fully equipped luxury models. Single family homes are plentiful and range from 100,000 for one bedroom residences up to over one million for newer, more contemporary estates. There is also vacant land available for custom home construction as well as waterfront / lakefront properties.
