Brandon is one of the Tampa bay areas larger bedroom communities. Brandon provides a small town atmosphere, outside the city with the convenience of being only 12 miles away from the metropolitan district of Tampa making for about a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Tampa and less than 30 minutes away from the Tampa International Airport. 

Brandon is an unincorporated area in Hillsborough County about halfway between Plant City and Tampa.  The population of Brandon and the surrounding smaller communities of Seffner, Lithia, Dover, Durant, Mango, Valrico, Riverview and Bloomingdale are together about 290,000 people.  Brandon itself is about 89 square miles in size. 

The annual Brandon Balloon Classic is a nationally recognized event that brings at least 50 hot air balloons from all over the United States to the town of Brandon for a weekend long celebration.  

Single family homes, deed restricted sub-division real estate, town homes, condominiums, and luxury estates are available starting in the $200,000 upwards to $1,000,000.  Golf communities and waterfront homes are also available.  In March of 2007 approximately 60 homes sold in Brandon at a median price of $217,000 and in this buyers market, the average time a home takes to sell is 60-90 days.
