The Historic Old Northeast neighborhood of St. Petersburg was the first constructed neighborhood in the city and many of the original homes are still standing. Mostly known for its historic homes, the designs of much of the residential real estate includes white picket fences, tall chimneys, front porches, and a beautiful assortment of Floridas finest foliage. Also, many of the streets are cobble stone paved. There are about 5,300 homes, condos, and apartments and some 9,000 residents within Old Northeast.
The neighborhood lies conveniently next to the downtown area of St. Petersburg. Also nearby is the city owned North Shore Park, lying adjacent to the eastern boundary of Old Northeast, and providing residents with a public swimming pool, tennis courts, a baseball field, childrens playgrounds, bike trails, and a sandy white beach. The St. Petersburg Pier with its delicious seafood, night clubs, and aquatic museum is just down the road from Old Northeast, as well as the Albert Whitted Municipal Airport.
The area of Snell Isle has some of the finest waterfront homes in Old Northeast and the Tampa bay area. The Snell Isle Park Plaza has been recently renovated with newly paved sidewalks and beautiful landscaping. The streets which make the border of Old Northeast include 4th St. to the West, 5th Ave to the South, 30th Ave to the North, and North Shore Park to the East.
